Paula started (2002) and has continued her career in the Blue Valley School District. She began working with children early childhood to middle school ages. She worked in an early childhood peer model therapeutic preschool program for many years. During this time she provided transdiciplinary play-based therapy services to children ages 3-5 years with multiple disabilities, as well as, itinerant based services by appointment. Paula helped implement the first early childhood center-based program in the Blue Valley School District, working with children with significant characteristics of autism - both diagnosed and undiagnosed. Her work in the area of autism continued while working at the elementary level with children who were both verbal and non-verbal with a high level of behavioral and functional needs. She used multiple teaching techniques including applied verbal behavior and applied behavior analysis to help teach her students how to become successful communicators while in an attempt to decrease behaviors. Paula has worked the last 9 years with children ages 5-11 in the elementary setting collaborating, assessing and treating children with the goal to help them remain and be successful in their least restrictive educational environment. Areas targeted include: articulation, expressive and receptive language, fluency, voice, social development, behavior and traumatic brain injury.
Paula is excited to be apart of the Pediatric Connections team of professionals and helping other children become successful communicators while collaborating with their families!
